The following guidelines are intended to safely prepare and resume in-person CPR and First Aid classroom instruction to individuals and groups. Hands-on-practice and evaluations are required for certification. Therefore, the primary concern must be for the health and safety of all students and the instructor.

General  Measures

General Measures

  • Face coverings will be used at all times by everyone in attendance.
  • Social Distancing will be used at all times by everyone in attendance.
  • Students will self-check their health status using the provided check off list at registration.
  • All in attendance will promote Health Hygiene Practices at all times:
  • Hand Washing or
  • Hand Sanitizer use (provided)
  • There will be no sharing of any equipment used in class: Manikins or AEDs
  • Strict Equipment Disinfection will be followed before, during, and after use.
  • Only simulated breaths will be given to manikins unless using Bag-Mask Device.
  • Training and Classes will be SUSPENDED during County/City Lock Down Periods.

The goal of the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Course is to train and teach healthcare professionals how to perform high-quality CPR individually or as part of a team. Choose either Instructor-Led training or Blended learning. Students must pass the Adult CPR-AED Skills Test, Infant CPR Skills Test and Score at least 84% on the exam to receive a course completion card. The Course Agenda is as follows:

*AHA BLS HCP Renewal classes require the students to have a current AHA BLS HCP card presented to the AHA instructor.

For Blended Learning, AHA BLS HCP Skills Testing Class requires the students to have completed Part 1 of the online-self-directed HeartCode BLS course. You must print the Part 1 Completion Certificate for presentation to the AHA instructor. This course is video-instructor-led and includes practice and Skills Testing. 

Your AHA Healthcare Provider Card states: This card certifies that the individual has completed the cognitive and skills evaluations following the curriculum of the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program.

EMS Safety Services Certification

Emergency oxygen administration is optional for healthcare providers and professional rescuers who have access to emergency oxygen. The course will teach you:

  • How to know when the use of emergency oxygen would benefit a patient
  • How to set up and deliver emergency oxygen with a nasal cannula, non-rebreather mask, and bag valve mask
  • Risk and safety issues regarding handling, use, and storage of oxygen cylinders
  • How to identify advanced equipment that may be used in conjunction with emergency oxygen

This course may only be provided where emergency oxygen is available. You must provide your emergency oxygen for demonstration and practice.

A minimum of 2 students is required. If only one student, then the cost is the same as for two students.
